A4:2026 · Published 15 April 2026

Built for the latest standard. From day one.

Most certification systems are still updating to BS 7671:2018+A4:2026. TradeDocs was built for it. Every cert we generate already follows the new Schedule of Inspections, the expanded outcome vocabulary, and the new mandatory categories.

Schedule

Seven-column Schedule of Inspections

Full A4:2026 layout with shared C1/C2 column, separate C3, FI, N/V, LIM, and N/A. Renders correctly on every EICR.

Outcome

N/V outcome — Not Verified

New explicit code in A4:2026 for sampling-based EICRs. A2:2022 had no equivalent. We support it natively.

Section 1.0

Intake equipment

New mandatory category in A4:2026 covering meter tails, isolators, and the consumer-side intake. Captured visually, recorded automatically.

Section 8.0

Prosumer installations

A4:2026 introduces low-voltage prosumer (PV, batteries, EV charge points) as a dedicated section. We built it in from the ground up.

Capabilities

Every tool the modern British engineer actually needs.

Five years of engineer feedback distilled into one mobile-first compliance engine. No bloat, no subscriptions, no teaching an office tool to understand a consumer unit.

AI Vision Scanning

Point your phone at any consumer unit, boiler data plate, or client letterhead. Google Gemini 2.5 Pro extracts every circuit, rating, make, model, and GC number in seconds — no typing.

BS 7671 Validation

Every extracted circuit is cross-referenced against Regulation 411 (RCD protection), 521 (wiring systems), and the amendment 2 observation library. Hallucinations are filtered before PDF.

Differentiator

QR-Verified Certificates

Every PDF carries a unique QR code. Landlords, letting agents, and local authorities scan it and see live authenticity confirmation on tradedocs.co.uk/verify/<id>. Tamper-proof, forever.

Pixel-Perfect PDFs

ReportLab-rendered, typographically locked to the golden ratio (L = F × 1.618). 24pt baseline rows. Bundled DejaVu Sans for proper Ω symbols. Indistinguishable from NICEIC templates.

Pay-As-You-Go

£2.00 per electrical certificate. £1.50 per gas record. £0.50 per invoice or quote. No monthly £39 ransom. No seat licences. Top up £20 and run for a month.

Privacy by Design

UK GDPR baked in. KYC selfies are purged the instant verification succeeds — only a boolean flag remains. PII on certificates is AES-256 encrypted at rest. London data centres only.

How to join

No code typing. Tap, send, verified.

Every engineer on TradeDocs UK is verified. We use AkidOTP — our in-house verification system — so you never copy and paste a six-digit code from a text message. Tap a button, your messaging app opens with a pre-filled message, you tap Send. That is the entire flow.

Trade verification

Scan your trade card. Done.

Your mobile is verified. Next: the trade. Photograph your registration card. We check your number against the official register. An admin confirms the card the same day, usually in minutes. If you hold both gas and electrical, scan both.

Electrical

NICEIC, NAPIT, ELECSA, STROMA, or any of the recognised competent-person schemes.

Unlocks EICR, EVCR, DVI, and Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate (MEIWC).

Gas

Gas Safe Register registration card.

Unlocks CP12 Landlord Gas Safety Record. Gas commissioning certificates and commercial records follow in 2026.

Both trades

Scan both cards. Both verifications run independently.

Full electrical and gas access on one account. No second login, no second wallet.

UK GDPR Delete-on-Success. Your card photo is deleted from our storage the moment verification completes. We keep a verified flag and a timestamp. Nothing else.

AES-256 at rest. Every piece of personal data on every certificate is encrypted on disk. UK-hosted, London region.

The Flow

Three steps. Seconds, not hours. Done.

Less time standing in a cold loft writing carbon copies. More time driving home.

1

Scan the board

Open the rear camera in the PWA. Frame the consumer unit or data plate. The app captures at full native resolution — no compression, no blur, no retakes.

2

Verify the AI

AI vision returns every circuit with positions, ratings, types, and BS 7671 validation warnings. You review, correct anything off, add test readings from your MFT.

3

Generate & send

Sign on the glass. Hit generate. A typographically-pristine, QR-verified PDF lands in the customer's inbox before you've packed the Megger away.

The Horizon

Starting with sparks and gas.
Building out every UK trade.

TradeDocs UK is the first wedge. The engine beneath it — AI vision, PDF rendering, QR verification, wallet — is being extended to every certificate, every survey, every document a UK contractor ever hand-wrote on the bonnet of a van.

Common Questions

Everything you need to know, before you sign up.

How accurate is the AI on a real consumer unit?
Google Gemini 2.5 Pro sits behind the vision pipeline. On a reasonably lit photograph of a labelled board, extraction of circuit number, type, rating and protective device typically hits 92–98% per circuit. Every extracted circuit runs through a BS 7671 validation filter before it touches the PDF — mis-classifications (e.g. circuits labelled as RCBO but with no residual rating) get flagged for your review rather than being silently included.
Is the certificate legally valid?
The PDFs mirror the IET Guidance Note 3 formats for EICR, EIC and MEIWC. Legal validity in the UK is a function of the engineer, not the software — the competent person signing the document is accountable. TradeDocs accelerates your workflow and provides an audit trail (QR verification, timestamps, signatures), but you remain the certifying engineer. Our declaration flow makes that clear at sign-up.
What happens to my customer's data?
All PII on certificates is AES-256 encrypted at rest. Data is stored in Supabase's London region (eu-west-2) — nothing leaves UK jurisdiction. During identity verification, selfies and ID photographs are permanently deleted the moment verification succeeds; only a boolean is_verified flag and a timestamp are retained. This "delete-on-success" pattern is our UK GDPR protocol and it's baked into the code, not the policy page.
Do I need to install anything?
No. TradeDocs is a Progressive Web App — open it in Safari or Chrome on your phone, tap "Add to Home Screen", and it behaves like a native app. No App Store queue, no 30% Apple tax, no approval delays when we ship an update. Works on iOS, Android, and desktop.
How does the QR verification actually work?
Every issued certificate is assigned a unique verification ID stored against its metadata in our database. The PDF carries a QR code that encodes tradedocs.co.uk/verify/<id>. A landlord, letting agent, council inspector, or insurance assessor points any phone camera at the QR, the page loads, and they see: certificate type, date of issue, postcode area, outcome, engineer name, registration number, and an Authentic / Revoked status. No customer PII is shown — the privacy line is drawn exactly where UK GDPR expects it.
Can I cancel? Are there hidden fees?
There's nothing to cancel. The model is pay-as-you-go — top up your wallet, use it, or don't. If you walk away for six months and come back, your balance is still there. No subscription trap, no £39/month bleed, no per-seat pricing.
Which trades is this for right now?
Today: UK electrical engineers (EICR, MEIWC, EVCR, DVI) and gas engineers (CP12). Q2–Q3 2026: commercial gas, RAMS, plumbing and heating. Beyond: roofing, building, fire safety, surveys. The underlying engine — AI vision + rule-validated PDF generation + QR verification + wallet — is trade-agnostic. If it's a British document with a set of regulations behind it, it fits the engine.
What if the AI gets something wrong?
You review every extracted field before PDF generation. A required-fields gate blocks generation if mandatory data is missing or has been edited back to empty. You are the final check. The AI is a very fast, very literate pair of eyes — not a decision-maker.
What's new in A4:2026 and why does it matter?
BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 was published on 15 April 2026 and replaces A2:2022 from 15 October 2026. The substantive changes engineers will feel on the ground: the Schedule of Inspections has been restructured into a seven-column outcome layout (shared C1/C2, separate C3, FI, N/V, LIM, N/A) — A2:2022 used four columns. Two new mandatory categories appear: Section 1.0 for intake equipment (meter tails, isolators, the consumer-side intake) and Section 8.0 for low-voltage prosumer installations (PV, batteries, EV charge points). A new explicit N/V (Not Verified) outcome is introduced for sampling-based EICRs; A2:2022 had no equivalent. TradeDocs implemented A4:2026 from the ground up rather than retrofitting an A2:2022 codebase — every certificate you generate today is already on the latest standard.
